INDIANAPOLIS TEAM

Dear Nobles:

Welcome to Indianapolis for the 139th Shrine Imperial Council Session, June 30 – July 4, 2013.

Indianapolis is a vibrant city. While you are here, you will sample the food in our many restaurants, enjoy a show or an Indianapolis Indians baseball game, and visit our museums. You may take a spin around the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, home of the Greatest Spectacle in Racing.

Possibilities for ladies activities include the Indianapolis Museum of Art and the White River Botanical Gardens. The ladies can shop at our downtown Circle Centre Mall, and many can get there without even going outside. Nobles will enjoy a visit to the NCAA Hall of Champions. Nobles and ladies will enjoy the Eiteljorg Museum of Western Art. Everyone, including children, will have a great time at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Museum; the Indianapolis Children’s Museum (Shriners will always be kids at heart); Conner Prairie Interactive History Park; and Lucas Oil Stadium, home of the Indianapolis Colts.

A short journey south to Nashville, a historic and scenic community tucked in among beautiful rolling hills, features unique shopping and dining and a sampling of Indiana wine at two of the state’s wineries. Those who are adventuresome or athletic can walk, jog, navigate a paddle boat, or ride a Segway along the White River Canal and through White River State Park.

Marvelous examples of Masonic architecture abound—Freemasons’ Hall, which includes our Grand Lodge Library and Museum; the Scottish Rite Cathedral; and the Murat Shrine Mosque. Tour our Statehouse, and you will see examples of the different orders in architecture. On the south lawn of the Statehouse, have your picture taken in front of the statue of Freemason and President George Washington in Masonic regalia. All these sites await you during a stroll of downtown or a leisurely carriage ride.

Getting to Indianapolis is convenient. We are served by Interstate Highways from all directions, and our central geographic location is within a one-day drive for over half of the population of the U.S. and much of Canada. Our international airport is served by 20 major airlines offering non-stop and direct flights to more than 40 destinations. More than 190 daily departures make coming to Indianapolis by air hassle-free. The airport is only nine miles from the heart of downtown. You can land in Indy and be in your hotel in about 30 minutes.

Once you are here, your home away from home will be in one of the 4,000 guest rooms we have reserved right in downtown. Most are connected to the Indianapolis Convention Center by skywalk. None is more than five blocks away.

Since Indianapolis will host the 2012 Super Bowl, a lot is going on in downtown Indianapolis. In 2013, the shine will not have worn off.

Please join us for a great time.

Yours in the Faith,

Jeffery P. Zaring
